Biological Activity : Eudesmine presents a short acting estrogenic activity and a sedative effect.
- 1.5 and 10 mg/kg cause a mass increase of the uterus in non-pubescent rats and induces oestrus in ovarectomized pubescent rats.
- 50 and 100 mg/kg cause a general relaxation of the animals and extends by 2.5 times the effects of soporifics.
- 100, 200 and 500 mg/kg present no effect on the convulsant activity of Caffeine (300 mg/kg), Corazole (Pentylenetrazole) (75 mg/kg) and Strychnine (1 mg/kg).
Toxicity (LD50) : mice (orally): 1 900 mg/kg.
