  • Molecular Weight : 265.33 Da.

  • Melting Point : 195-198 °C

  • Solubility in : well in acetic acid; moderately in chloroform; practically not in 95% ethanol and water.

  • Purity min. : 98% TLC [silufol; ether-chloroform-acetic acid (1:6:1)].

  • Physical Form : white crystal powder, sometimes grey-shaded.

  • Chemical Name : 2-methoxycarbonylamino-5-isopropylthio-1H-benzimidazole

  • Biological Activity : Broad spectrum anthelmintic, which efficiency is equal to that of Albendazole. Efficient in cases of polyinvasion, especially against echinococcus.

  • Toxicity (LD50) : rat (orally): 500 mg/kg (400-630)

    1. The anthelmintic activity of Methiazole was compared to Albendazole's by MN Lebedeva from the Institute of Medical Parasitology and Tropical Medicine in Moscow in Russia.
      It would seem that no publication came out of it, but the information supplied by NM Lebedeva indicates that the activity of Methiazole is very close to Albendazole's.
