Description

Causes cramps; increases arterial blood pressure and breathing frequency.

Tropane alkaloid C16H21NO4 ‚ from plants of the Convolvulus genus‚ Convolvulaceae.
 
Biological Activity

Fillalbin induces clonico-tonic cramps in vivo. The death of mice occurs after 2 or 3 brief cramps.

In cats‚ 0.5-3 mg/kg increase arterial blood pressure to about 10-24 mm Hg during 15-60 min. 3 mg/kg increase breathing amplitude and frequency.


In rabbits‚ drops of a 1% solution cause an irritation of conjunctiva.
