PHRIXOTOXIN-2
Product ID L8438-100UG
Name PHRIXOTOXIN-2
Molecular formula C169H259N49O43S8
Description
A 31 amino-acids peptide with 3 disulfide bridges , synthetic, initially isolated from the venom of the Chilean copper tarantula Phrixotrichus auratus, also known as Paraphysa scrofa.
Biological activity

Phrixotoxin-2 specifically blocks recombinant Kv4.2 and Kv4.3 currents with IC50 values of 34 nM and 71 nM, respectively. It does so by altering the gating properties of the channels. The inhibition of Kv4.2 and Kv4.3 currents is fully reversible upon washout. Kv4.1 is only slightly sensitive to Phrixotoxin-2 (maximal block of 20 by 300 nM). Phrixotoxin-2 does not inhibit Kv1/KCNA, Kv2/KCNB, Kv3/KCNC, and Kv11/KCNH channels.
