CONOTOXIN PIA (alpha-)
Product ID L8519-500UG
Name CONOTOXIN PIA (alpha-)
Molecular formula C79H125N27O25S4
Description
A 18 amino-acids peptide with 2 disulfide bridges , synthetic, initially isolated from the venom of the Purple cone snail Conus purpurascens.
Biological activity

α-conotoxin PIA potently and reversibly blocks nAChR alpha-6 or -3/beta-2 or -3 (IC50 =147 nm)> alpha-3/beta-2 > alpha-3/beta-4 (IC50=480-1500 nM). Does not block the muscle nor the major neuronal nAChR alpha-4/beta-2. It discriminates between nAChRs containing alpha-6 and alpha-3 subunits, being selective for alpha-6.
