LYCORINE HCl
Product ID L6011
Name LYCORINE HCl
Molecular formula C16H17NO4.HCl
Description

As a selective inhibitor of Peptidyl Transferase Center (PTC), it inhibits protein synthesis.
It enhances bronchial gland secretion and possesses relaxing effect on bronchial muscles. It probably is a dopaminergic receptor agonist.
It is also an emetic

Phenantridine alkaloid , from plants of the Amaryllidaceae family
Biological activity

It is one of the most active inhibitors of protein synthesis catalyzed by eucaryotic ribosomes among this group of Amaryllidaceae alkaloids.
It prevents the transfer of the N-acetylleucyl residue from 3'-terminal fragments of AcLeu-tRNA onto puromycin.
It binds to 60S ribosomal subunit isolated from wheat germ with Ka = 8.65x102 M-1.
It changes their conformation in the PTC region. These events can result in blocking the oligonucleotide model donor adsorption.
Its emetic effect on dogs starts at the dose of 0.5 mg/kg (s.c.)
