SONGORINE
Product ID L6097
Name SONGORINE
Molecular formula C22H31NO3
Description

It is an adrenergic and serotonergic stimulant and so it is a CNS stimulant.

It has antiarrhythmic activities.

C20-diterpenoid alkaloid , from plants of the Aconitum genus, Ranunculaceae
Biological activity

Its antiarrhythmic and CNS stimulant effects are 25 times as potent as Quinidine and 2 times less toxic. The stimulant effect on the CNS is due to adrenergic and serotonergic stimulation in the reticular formation:

- it causes desynchronization of cortex and sub-cortex action potential rhythms;

- it enhances and prolongs the "reaction of activation" after visual and phonic stimulation;

- it suppresses the electroencephalogram modifications due to intravenous injection of 2 mg/kg Chlorpromazine.
